    Official Rules for College Chapter Eligibility of 2016-2017 Pansy Patch Scholarships

    PARTICIPANTS: Membership in Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity is not required to participate in the Pansy Patch campaign. Any persons making charitable contributions through the Pansy Patch campaign are considered participants: non-members; and members, volunteers, directors, officers, and employees of Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity, and the Fraternity Housing Corporation, and family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling, grandparent, and/or “step”) of each and those living in their same households.

    HOW TO DESIGNATE A PANSY TO A COLLEGE CHAPTER: For a college chapter to receive credit for a pansy, a donor must make a charitable contribution of 5 dollars per pansy and designate the chapter at the point of payment. ONLINE: Designate a college chapter at the point of payment at www.pansypatch.org (“The Pansy Patch website”), March 14, 2016 through June 25, 2016. IN PERSON: Registered attendees of Kappa Alpha Theta’s 2016 Grand Convention may make a charitable contribution of 5 dollars per pansy by cash, check, or credit card and designate a college chapter at the point of payment at the Pansy Patch Booth during posted hours of operation, June 23, 2016 through June 25, 2016.

    COLLEGE CHAPTER ELIGIBILITY: The Pansy Patch campaign begins on or around 9:00 a.m. EST on March 14, 2016, and ends on or around 3:00 p.m. MT on June 25, 2016. Through the duration of the campaign, college chapters will receive credit for all pansies designated to them. The final determination of college chapters whose members are eligible for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation 2016-2017 Pansy Patch Scholarships will be made on June, 25, 2016 by the final business session of Kappa Alpha Theta’s 2016 Grand Convention. At the close of the campaign on June 25, 2016, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation will announce the top ranked college chapters eligible for 2016-2017 Pansy Patch Scholarships. Rankings are based on the total number of pansies designated to each college chapter. The total number of chapters eligible for 2016-2017 Pansy Patch Scholarships will be based on available funding no later than June 25, 2016.

    SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS: Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation 2016-2017 Pansy Patch Scholarships are merit-based scholarships and are subject to all Theta Foundation policies and procedures regarding eligibility, uses and restrictions, submission guidelines, review and selection guidelines, recipient guidelines and award disbursement guidelines. The criteria for the Pansy Patch Scholarship Fund includes eligibility based on Pansy Patch Rules; additional criteria for scholarships awarded from the fund are as follows:

    a. Each scholarship shall be awarded to an individual collegian member of each of the eligible college chapters (according to Theta Foundation’s Pansy Patch official rules) who will pursue an undergraduate degree during the academic year for which the scholarships are awarded.
    b. Should no applicants from an eligible chapter qualify according to the criteria outlined in a, the available scholarship may be awarded to senior collegian or alumna member who will pursue a graduate degree during the academic year for which the scholarships are awarded.
    c. Should no applicants from an eligible chapter qualify according to the criteria outlined in a a-b, the available scholarship may be awarded to a collegian or alumna member of the next eligible college chapter (according to Theta Foundation’s Pansy Patch official rules).

    RIGHT TO CANCEL OR MODIFY: If for any reason the campaign is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the campaign, Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the campaign and any element of it.

    TAX DEDUCTIBILITY: Charitable contributions made to Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation through the Pansy Patch campaign are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

    NOTIFICATION: Following the announcement at Grand Convention, the list of chapters eligible for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation 2016-2017 Pansy Patch Scholarships will be published at www.kappaalphathetafoundation.org (“Theta Foundation’s website”) or may be obtained by sending a written request plus a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, 8740 Founders Rd., Indianapolis, IN, 46268.
